Contrary to popular belief, caste system was not confined to India and that too Hindus only. It is a universal phenomenon. Its antiquity is fathomless. Plato also has spoken about the caste system in society when he divided the citizens into four categories; Gold, Silver, Brass and iron. In his “Dialogues”, Plato says in passage 415:
“Citizens, you are brothers; yet God has framed you differently. Some of you have the power of command; and these He made them Gold, wherefore they have the greatest honour; others Silver, to be auxiliaries, others again who are to be husbandmen and craftsmen. He made them of brass and iron: and the species will generally be preserved in the children. But as you are of the same original family, a Golden parent will sometimes have a silver son or a silver parent a Golden son. And God proclaims:- that if the son of a Golden or Silver parent has an admixture of brass or iron, then nature requires a transportation of ranks; and the eye of the ruler must not be pitiful towards his child because he has to descend in the scale to become husbandman or an artisan just as there may be other, sprung from the artisan class who are raised to honour and become guardians and auxiliaries. For an Oracle says that “ when a man of brass or iron guards the state, it will be destroyed.”
The Moors of Mauritania also have distinct caste systems just like the Greeks and the Indians. The white or Bidan Moors are of Arab or Berber descent. The black Moors are of Sudanese descent. The priestly castes among Moors are called Murabit (Marabouts), who are scholars of the Qur’an. The warrior castes are called rabs. While the priestly classes are usually Berbers, the warrior class are usually Arabs. The Vaishyas are called Bidan. They are vassals, who received protection from the Marabouts and warriors in return for tribute. People of this region were famous for their fighting machines since ancient times. Thus, two of the dominant Bidan groups are the artisan classes – the blacksmiths and the griots, who were both musicians and gynecologists. The Shoodras are formed of black Moors and were subdivided into “bid” or slaves and “hartani” or freemen. Among the ethnic and racial groups, blacks became the better educated and held most technical, professional and diplomatic posts at the time of independence from the French Rule. Members of the “servant caste”, which developed as the bureaucratic class, became increasingly aware of their rights as citizens. Thus, slavery, which was abolished by the French before independence, was again abolished officially on July 5, 1980. Yet, the practice is still continuing. The higher castes in ancient India spoke literary Sanskrit language while the lower castes and ladies spoke local variations known as Prakrhta. The higher castes among the Moors speak literary Arabic, while the lower castes speak Hassaniyak, which is a dialect that draws its grammar from Arabic and uses a vocabulary of both Arabic and Berber words. Thus, the modern citadels of Islam and Christianity were practicing not only casteism from ancient times like ancient Inda, but also were practicing slavery, unlike that in ancient India.
This relationship of professional traits with genetics has been scientifically studied of late. The latest finding on this issue was published in May 2004 issue of the journal “Child Development” published from London. Julia Kim-Cohen of the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College in London has reported her findings in the above journal. According to her research, 1116 mothers and their five-year-old same-sex twins were studied to find the relationship of environmental factors on child development. The children experienced more than just poverty as measured by family income level. Living in the poorest neighborhoods, their homes were rated as being over-crowded, damp or in dis-repair. The study also differentiated between twins sharing all the same genes, i.e., common parents, and those sharing only half the genes, i.e., one parent common. The result of the study showed that genetic make-up does play a role in the ability of children to rise above their poverty and not suffer behavioral or cognitive setbacks. The warmth, mental stimulation, and interest that parents pay towards their young children also has a significant difference in the children’s lives. In other words, caste as an indicator of professional excellence is genetically determined. As a corollary, subjugation of lower castes by upper castes is a fallacy. History shows that such forced subjugation has never lasted for more than a couple of centuries.

This is again a superstitious statement without knowledge and understanding of the subject. I am willing for a debate to prove that the caste system devised by Manu is based on DNA classification.
