A scientific group wanted to know my views on science before admitting me. This was my reply.
I am a believer of logic. I apply logic to everything. I do not accept or reject anything till I find a logical answer. I leave it open without any conclusion. I believe that the validity of a physical statement rests on its correspondence to reality. I do not believe in abstract reality. For me, reality is that which can be perceived through our senses, is knowable and is describable in a language. Thus, I do not accept mathematical structures. For me, the validity of a mathematical statement is judged by its logical consistency. For this only, you have eigen values and eigen functions. All values and all functions are not permissible. Because mathematics depicts only the quantitative aspect of nature – not all aspects.
A language is the transposition of one’s need/thought/command to another person or system’s mind/CPU. To that extent mathematics is a language. But just like an unknown language does not elicit the desired response, mathematics fails in many contexts. It has to be used in its proper context only. Thus, while all of physics is mathematics, all of mathematics is not physics. If for 3000 dollars you get a bike, mathematically, for 1000 dollars you get 1/3 of a bike. While it makes sense mathematically, it does not make sense physically. Then there are subjects beyond mathematics. Observer is an important concept in physics, but there are no equations to describe the observer. Emotions cannot be described mathematically. The smile in the lips of your beloved is not the same as curvature of lips. Thus, mathematical physics is a totally wrong concept that is killing science.
Unfortunately, most so-called scientists do not have this scientific temper. Mostly they believe superstitiously in “established theories”, even when there is evidence against such belief. For example, most astrophysicists believe in expanding universe, even though it is not evident in local scales and the observation of blue-shift and galactic merger points against it. Then the expansion appears equal in all directions means that the Earth is the center of the universe – a concept discarded long ego. Is science going backwards? The phenomena of redshift that led to the expanding universe concept can have an alternative explanation in the solar system. Planets go round the Sun in CIRCULAR orbits that appear as elliptical because of the moving center – the Sun. Just like some planets appear to move away from the Earth at times to come closer at other times, we see some galaxies moving away (redshift) to come close (blue-shift) at other times. That means, like everything else in the universe, the universe itself is spinning on its own axis.
The cosmic inflation is a similarly wrong notion, which, thankfully, is increasingly being questioned. If there was something like big bang or big bounce, the universe began its expansion into the so-called void, which was at rest. The expansion must have been very fast at the beginning, which would have gradually reduced to zero because of the bow-shock effect from the static field. We see it regularly where a boat is pushed into a lake. The static water resists the motion of the boat successively to bring it to stand still. Something similar must have happened in the early universe, which implies, the universe is no longer expanding. But like the planets in the solar system, the galaxies appear as moving away at times to come close at other times. This is how we see blue-shift and galactic mergers. Just like the back reaction and recombination we see behind the boat, the differential energy flow must have created back reaction leading to “piling up” at different points, which would have been confined due to differential density, to create structures. Also it would have led to the opposite “pendulum reaction”, so that the direction of energy flow reverses. This would have continued as a pendulum over long periods, so that what we see as light, must be slowing down over the years. Already there are some confirmation of this view. But the majority in the scientific community are yet to accept it.
In a scientific world, where people get Nobel Prize for discoveries in dark energy, where the vacuum catastrophe is dubbed as the biggest mismatch in history, my voice is going to be drowned by opposition. For laymen, the dark energy research has led to measurements, where the theory and observation differ by a magnitude that amounts 10 raised to the power of 120 or 1 followed by 120 zeros! Even after much exercise, the difference could be narrowed down only to the order of 10 raised to the power of 55.
